Kasembo in a Capsule
Kasembo Farms was founded more than 50 years ago by the Shone family and is
now owned and run by the Congregation of the Missionaries of Marianhill. It stretches for
about 1,000 acres, and keeps more than 200 Friesian cows (40 are milked),
150 pigs, 2,000 layers, and a few thousand
chickens for the pot; the so called broilers. TheMariannhillers who are currently running the farm say that they try leave things as natural
as possible. With most of the basic ingredients
grown on the farm, it's no surprise that meals are at the Guest house are a highlight in Kasama town.
Kasembo Guesthouse
The Guesthouse is located at the farm, It has 8 chalets, two of which operate as executive lounge with (big double bed, private sitting room, and bathroom and toilet). Of the remaining chalets two are self contained and the others have two rooms per bath/toilet room. PO Box 410040, Kasama. Office

This guesthouse is 8km from the centre of town, on
Kasembo Farms, opposite the airport. To get there leave town for the
airport and, about 150m after from the airport turn off road, take a left turn
down a farm road, signposted to Kasembo. The guesthouse is about 1.5km
from that turn-off.The
accommodation for visitors (of any creed) consists of the guesthouse and the other house which is usually standing by about 80m apart in a clearing within an old section of
indigenous forest.
The missionaries
make a point of ensuring that the services both offered at farm and at the guesthouse are attentive and discussions
with them can give you an interesting insight into agriculture and the interesting touristic areas surrounding the farm. Several
types of local beers, wines and spirits are on offer during meals. If you
arrive in town and want to stay then ask at the Kasembo Supermarket Shop,
which is right across from the central market in town, at the back of MTN or immediately after Airtel-Stores.
